On October 10, the launch ceremony for Ground Team Red (GTR) green energy airport equipment was held at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, where Hangcha Group put the first 20 lithium battery tow tractors into use, marking the largest electric vehicle deployment in Malaysia's aviation industry to date.
As the event organizer, Ground Team Red (GTR), a partner of Hangcha Group, invited key guests to the launch ceremony, including Malaysian Minister of Transport Anthony Loke, Hangcha Group's Deputy Chief Engineer Li Yuansong, and Southeast Asia General Manager Jin Jia.
Hangcha lithium battery tow tractors at KLIA use advanced lithium battery technology, offering high energy efficiency, zero emissions, low noise, and improved safety. With fast charging and long-lasting performance, they are designed for the demands of busy airport operations. The Hangcha Fleet Management System also enables real-time monitoring of vehicle status, enhancing fleet efficiency and management.
During the next 84 months of operation, these 20 lithium battery tow tractors are expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 7,200 tons, supporting Malaysia's aviation decarbonization efforts. Additionally, switching from diesel to lithium battery tow tractors is projected to cut operating costs by 43.5%, saving approximately 5.97 million MYR.
